Islamabad, the spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, has criticized the recent decision by the Indian Parliament to pass legislation concerning the future of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), labeling it a ploy to solidify India’s control over the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Baloch, during a media briefing in Islamabad, condemned the move by the Indian Parliament, stating that it represents an attempt to deny the people of Jammu and Kashmir their right to self-determination. She emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory, and its fate should be determined in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Baloch highlighted that Pakistan has consistently rejected India’s occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and views the application of the Indian Constitution to this disputed territory as irrelevant. She reiterated Pakistan’s firm stance of categorically rejecting any measures that aim to perpetuate India’s occupation of the region.
The spokesperson also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to providing political, diplomatic, and moral support to the Kashmiri people in their quest for a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.
Additionally, Baloch touched upon the recent actions of the United Nations Secretary-General, who invoked Article-99 of the UN Charter to draw the Security Council’s attention to the severe security situation and humanitarian crisis in Gaza. She commended this decision, describing it as a conscientious evaluation of the dire circumstances in Gaza.
Furthermore, Baloch strongly condemned the ongoing use of force by Israel and its indiscriminate attacks on civilians, civilian facilities, and infrastructure in Gaza, calling them a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.
