Islamabad: Pakistan has successfully facilitated the evacuation of 22 crew members from the seized Iranian container vessel, “MV Touska,” marking a significant step in its ongoing efforts to promote dialogue and stability in the region.
According to Radio Pakistan, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced the safe evacuation via a post on the social media platform X, stating that the crew members were flown to Pakistan the previous night and are set to be transferred to Iran. Dar emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue, diplomacy, and mediation by expressing gratitude to both the United States and Iran for their cooperation in these efforts.
The Iranian vessel is currently being backloaded to Pakistani territorial waters, where it will undergo necessary repairs before being returned to its original owners. Deputy Prime Minister Dar underscored that these actions are being coordinated with the assistance of both Iranian and U.S. authorities, describing them as a crucial confidence-building measure in the pursuit of regional peace and security.
