Pakistan Emphasizes Peaceful Resolution in Iran-US Tensions, DG ISPR States

Islamabad: Pakistan is committed to ensuring a peaceful and negotiated resolution to the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States, according to Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry. In an interview with CNN, Chaudhry underscored Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to bridge the differences in the geopolitical tensions, highlighting the nation’s dedication to regional peace and stability.

According to Radio Pakistan, Chaudhry articulated Pakistan’s role as an “honest broker” and expressed a desire for the conflict not to escalate further. He emphasized that Pakistan’s involvement seeks to narrow down differences through diplomatic channels, ensuring that the situation does not widen either horizontally or vertically.

During the interview, Chaudhry also addressed Pakistan’s longstanding military presence in Saudi Arabia, noting that Pakistani forces have been stationed there for decades across various capacities. He described the Makkah Alliance as a product of deep-rooted diplomatic, political, and military ties between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye, clarifying that the alliance’s objectives remain defensive. The Makkah Accord, he added, aims to protect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Harmain Sharifian, without labeling nations as enemies or allies.
