Pakistan Embassy in China Hosts Events to Boost Investment in Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology

Beijing: The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing organized two investment promotion events for the upcoming Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference, focusing on pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and healthcare. These events, co-hosted with the China Overseas Development Association (CODA) and IBI Goulian Gufen, aimed to engage Chinese investors for the conference scheduled in Karachi on July 17-18, 2026.

According to Press Information Department, nearly 60 Chinese enterprises participated in the events, which included representatives from sectors such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, vaccines, and healthcare services. Ambassador Khalil Hashmi of Pakistan highlighted the strengthening economic cooperation between Pakistan and China, emphasizing the focus on industrial collaboration and technology transfer under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC 2.0).

Ambassador Hashmi noted that the Karachi conference is part of an initiative launched in 2024 to connect Chinese and Pakistani enterprises across 21 sectors, resulting in numerous partnerships and investment commitments. He detailed Pakistan’s pharmaceutical market, pointing out its significant growth and potential for investment, particularly in areas like generic APIs, vaccines, and medical devices.

The Ambassador also invited Chinese enterprises to explore opportunities in biotechnology research, diagnostics, and healthcare technologies, underscoring the complementary strengths of both countries. Participants were informed about the conference program, including B2B matchmaking sessions and site visits, with several companies expressing interest in forming partnerships with Pakistani counterparts.

The B2B Investment Conference is being organized by Pakistan’s Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, alongside the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing and Pakistan’s Consulates General in China. It aims to foster cooperation in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare services, and related sectors between the two nations.
