Islamabad: Pakistan has categorically rejected the recent accusations made by India’s Defence Minister and Chief of Army Staff, describing them as baseless and unfounded. The statements made by the Indian officials on January 13 and 14, 2025, have been met with strong disapproval from Pakistan.
According to a statement by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the region of Jammu and Kashmir remains an internationally recognized disputed territory. The final status of the area is to be determined in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Pakistan asserts that India holds no legal or moral right to lay claims over Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Pakistan further criticized the rhetoric from Indian leaders, stating that it serves to divert international attention from alleged human rights violations and oppressive measures in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. These measures, Pakistan claims, aim to suppress the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people for self-determination.
The statement also warned that such provocative remarks from India are detrimental to regional peace and stability. Pakistan urged India to reflect on its own actions, citing documented instances of targeted assassinations, subversive activities, and state-sponsored terrorism in foreign territories.
The tense exchange of accusations underscores the fragile nature of relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors and highlights the ongoing disputes that continue to affect regional stability.
