Beijing: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening economic, industrial, and infrastructure cooperation with China under the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Phase Two. The Prime Minister expressed this resolve during high-level meetings with leading Chinese enterprises in Beijing.

According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif met with Zhengjun Chen, CEO of FAMSUN, and acknowledged the company’s contributions to Pakistan’s agriculture sector, particularly in grain storage and food security. He highlighted Pakistan’s focus on reducing post-harvest losses and invited FAMSUN to establish manufacturing and technology transfer facilities in Pakistan, leveraging incentives available through Special Economic Zones and the Green Pakistan Initiative.

In discussions with Chairman Hou Jianxin of Shandong Xinxu Group Corporation, the Prime Minister welcomed the group’s expanding presence in Pakistan, encompassing maritime development and industrial cooperation. He praised the group’s role in advancing projects such as the Xinxu Special Economic Zone and the Sea-to-Steel initiative at Port Qasim.

Prime Minister Sharif also met with Zhang Bingnan, Chairman of China Communications Construction Corporation, and senior representatives of China Road and Bridge Corporation. He appreciated their contributions to Pakistan’s infrastructure development, including projects like the Karakoram Highway. The Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to fast-tracking priority infrastructure projects, including the ML-1 railway and connectivity initiatives under CPEC.

The Chinese companies involved reaffirmed their confidence in Pakistan’s economic potential and expressed a strong interest in expanding investments across various sectors. Senior ministers and government officials, who accompanied the Prime Minister, were instructed to ensure rigorous follow-up on decisions made during these meetings.
