New York: Pakistan and Azerbaijan have pledged to intensify their collaboration in the realms of trade and energy, as stated in a press release following a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar of Pakistan and Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov of Azerbaijan. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the United Nations Security Council Open Debate in New York.

According to Radio Pakistan, the two leaders underscored their mutual dedication to the principles of the UN Charter, particularly emphasizing state sovereignty and territorial integrity. They highlighted the significance of the Global South’s contribution to a balanced international order. The discussions also celebrated the enduring defense ties between the two nations, which have been further strengthened under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan.

The leaders agreed to bolster economic cooperation by leveraging existing frameworks such as the Preferential Trade Agreement and the Transit Trade Agreement. Additionally, there was a consensus on expanding cooperation in the energy sector, with a particular focus on liquefied natural gas (LNG) partnerships.
