QUETTA: Pakistan Customs has announced the suspension of several officers following further investigations into the silver swap case, which have uncovered evidence of direct involvement, negligence, and inefficiency. According to Press Information Department, the suspended officers include a Collector of Customs, a Deputy Collector, an Assistant Collector, and three other officers, as authorized by the respective competent authorities.
A criminal investigation is currently underway, with those directly involved in the crime to be charged under FIR No 01. The authorities have also identified other beneficiaries in the crime, who will face legal action. In response to these developments, three new officers have been appointed to the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement in Quetta to facilitate independent and swift investigations.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against corruption, emphasizing that any officer or official found engaging in corrupt practices will face strict disciplinary measures, regardless of their rank or position.
