New York: Pakistan has issued a strong condemnation following a deadly ambush on a United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) patrol in Jonglei, South Sudan. The attack led to the deaths of two Ethiopian peacekeepers and injured several others.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations expressed its deepest condolences to the Government and people of Ethiopia, as well as to the families of the deceased peacekeepers. The mission emphasized the necessity of respecting the safety, security, and inviolability of UN personnel and premises at all times.
Pakistan has called for a prompt investigation into the attack, urging that those responsible be held accountable. The country reaffirmed its unwavering support for UNMISS and all UN personnel working for peace in South Sudan.
