ULAANBAATAR: Pakistan and Uzbekistan have agreed to enhance their economic cooperation by transforming existing agreements into specific projects with defined timelines and financing arrangements. This development emerged during a meeting between Pakistan’s Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Ilzat Kasimov.

According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions, held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, centered on regional connectivity, investment, and the mobilization of international financing. A significant focus was placed on the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Railway, which is seen as a crucial link for enhancing trade between Central Asia and Pakistan’s ports.

Minister Iqbal emphasized the need for the two countries to transition from political agreements to actionable projects that yield measurable economic results. He highlighted the potential of the railway project to serve as a transformative conduit for trade, connecting Central Asian markets with Pakistani ports.
