Rawalpindi: In a meeting with a delegation of the United States Congress, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing its partnership with the United States, focusing on mutual benefit and respect for national interests.

The delegation, led by Jack Bergman and including congressmen Thomas Souzzi and Jonathan Jackson, met with General Munir in Rawalpindi on Sunday. The discussions highlighted regional security and defense cooperation as key areas of mutual interest.

Both parties underscored the importance of ongoing engagement rooted in mutual respect, shared values, and strategic interests. The US lawmakers acknowledged the crucial role of the Pakistan Armed Forces in combating terrorism and recognized Pakistan’s contributions to regional peace and stability.

The US delegation expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s resilience and the strategic potential of its population. They conveyed a strong commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation in areas such as security, trade, investment, and economic development, while respecting Pakistan’s sovereignty.

Additionally, during the meeting, Memorandums of Understanding were signed to facilitate collaboration in Information Technology training, marking a step forward in the two countries’ cooperative efforts.
