Islamabad: The Federal Minister for Energy, Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, held a meeting with Sam Waldock, Development Director at the British High Commission, to discuss bilateral cooperation and the geo-strategic situation in the region. The discussion highlighted Pakistan’s role in facilitating a ceasefire between the United States and Iran and hosting peace negotiations, which the United Kingdom recognized as constructive and pivotal.
According to Press Information Department, the Federal Minister expressed appreciation for the acknowledgment of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, noting that it positively reflects on the country’s ongoing engagement for regional peace and stability. Sam Waldock commended Pakistan’s approach and effective response in managing the complexities arising from Iran-US tensions, emphasizing the country’s resilience and sound judgment in maintaining stability across key sectors despite challenges.
Waldock further emphasized the UK’s commitment to macroeconomic stability in Pakistan, underlining the importance of continued engagement and support. The Federal Minister expressed gratitude for the cooperation from the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, describing it as a crucial element of the bilateral partnership.
Investment-related matters were also discussed, with Waldock highlighting key issues. The Federal Minister assured full facilitation from the Government of Pakistan to enhance the investment climate and advance shared economic priorities.
