Islamabad: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have reaffirmed their commitment to fortifying bilateral relations, focusing on business, infrastructure, culture, and people-to-people connections. This was the focal point of a meeting held at Aiwan-e-Sadr between President Asif Ali Zardari and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, the meeting was attended by prominent figures, including Chairman Pakistan People’s Party, Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, First Lady/MNA, Ms. Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, among other senior officials. During the discussions, President Zardari highlighted the enduring cultural and familial ties between the two nations, emphasizing the importance of passing this legacy to future generations.
President Zardari acknowledged the development strides made by the UAE under its leadership and expressed gratitude for the UAE’s consistent support in various sectors. He stressed the significance of strengthening economic and trade relations and extended an invitation to UAE investors to explore new opportunities in Pakistan’s emerging sectors.
Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed reiterated the UAE’s dedication to enhancing cooperation with Pakistan, underscoring that the recently signed Memoranda of Understanding reflect the trust between the two countries. The meeting culminated in a special investiture ceremony where President Zardari conferred the Nishan-i-Pakistan award upon Sheikh Khaled in recognition of his contributions to strengthening bilateral relations.
Sheikh Khaled has played a pivotal role in promoting economic cooperation and facilitating major investment initiatives in Pakistan’s infrastructure, energy, healthcare, and technology sectors, contributing to the country’s socio-economic advancement.
