Pakistan and U.S. to Collaborate on Healthcare Services Through New Secretariat

Islamabad: During a high-level meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office, a Letter of Intent was signed between the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) and Physicians Revenue Group (PRG), Pakistan. The agreement aims to establish the PMYP United States Secretariat for Healthcare Services Cooperation in the United States, marking a significant step in enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and the U.S. in healthcare services, youth employment, and skills development.

According to Press Information Department, the signing ceremony was attended by notable officials, including Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Dr. Shahbaz Shamsi, Director General of PMYP, and Mr. Mansoor Ahmed, Chairman and CEO of Physicians Revenue Group, Pakistan. The proposed Secretariat is designed to act as a coordination platform, linking Pakistani institutions with U.S. healthcare providers, universities, and professional bodies.

The initiative aims to foster institutional partnerships, facilitate knowledge exchange, and create opportunities in healthcare administration, medical and dental billing, and healthcare technology for Pakistani youth. It also seeks to support the development of industry standards and regulatory frameworks in Pakistan’s medical billing and healthcare services sector, aligning them with U.S. data protection and compliance requirements.

The collaboration highlights the potential of the U.S. healthcare market and Pakistan’s growing ability to offer skilled healthcare support services. By connecting Pakistan’s educated workforce with international demand, the initiative intends to enhance professional development and expand Pakistan’s healthcare services exports.

A Joint Working Group will be established to plan and monitor the Secretariat’s activities, ensuring effective coordination with relevant Pakistani and U.S. institutions. This strategic collaboration underscores a shared commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s healthcare services industry and fostering sustainable economic opportunities through skills development and international cooperation.
