ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi and U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Andy Halus jointly inaugurated the “Let Freedom Ring” American Liberty Bell display at Lok Virsa Heritage Museum, marking a symbolic celebration of the enduring cultural partnership between Pakistan and the United States.

According to Press Information Department, the inauguration coincided with the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of U.S. Independence. Minister Khichi extended congratulations to the American nation and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening cultural ties with the United States, noting that cultural cooperation and people-to-people contacts are fundamental to the bilateral relationship. He highlighted the shared ideals of constitutional democracy and individual liberty between the two nations.

The exhibition, which includes artistic interpretations by 16 Pakistani artists of the iconic American Liberty Bell, underscores the rich cultural connection between Pakistan and the United States. Minister Khichi praised the artists for their unique expressions that transcend borders and languages, emphasizing the universal power of art.

U.S. Charge d’Affaires Andy Halus highlighted the role of cultural heritage as a bridge between the two countries. He expressed gratitude for the successful repatriation of over 450 Pakistani cultural artifacts and underscored the importance of cultural diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations. The Lok Virsa Museum, as a custodian of cultural heritage, was deemed an apt venue for the Liberty Bell project, celebrating shared values of creativity and freedom.

The initiative forms part of the broader celebrations for the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence and anticipates the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the United States in 2027. Both officials expressed confidence that cultural partnerships will continue to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations.
