Pakistan and Türkiye Sign Agreement to Enhance Security Cooperation


ISTANBUL: Pakistan and Türkiye have formally agreed to strengthen their collaboration in combating terrorism, narcotics trafficking, and organized crime by signing a new bilateral agreement. The accord was signed by Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Turkish counterpart Mustafa Ciftci during a meeting in Istanbul, marking a significant step forward in security cooperation between the two nations.



According to Radio Pakistan, the agreement includes the establishment of a Joint Working Group aimed at enhancing cooperation between the interior ministries of both countries. Minister Naqvi took the opportunity to brief Minister Ciftci on the positive outcomes of Pakistan’s intensified actions against illegal immigration networks. Turkish Interior Minister Ciftci acknowledged these efforts, highlighting a notable reduction in illegal immigration from Pakistan to Türkiye, which has dropped from seventy percent to seventeen percent.



The meeting further explored avenues for expanding bilateral collaboration through technical assistance, exchange of experts, and joint initiatives. Discussions also covered potential enhancements in cyber policing, the Anti-Narcotics Force, the National Police Academy, and other pertinent sectors.
