Islamabad: Pakistan and Tajikistan have agreed to enhance their trade and agricultural cooperation following a meeting between Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, and Yusuf Sharifzoda, the Ambassador of Tajikistan to Pakistan. The meeting focused on strengthening economic relations and exploring avenues for increased bilateral trade.

According to Press Information Department, the Tajik Ambassador extended an invitation to Minister Hussain to attend the upcoming Economic Cooperation Organization meeting in September. Minister Hussain highlighted the longstanding and cordial ties between the two countries, emphasizing the need to improve the current trade volume through greater engagement and the exploration of new trade avenues.

The discussion covered potential areas for collaboration, including agriculture, food processing, livestock, and agricultural technology. Both countries aim to leverage each other’s expertise to enhance cooperation in these sectors. Ambassador Sharifzoda stressed the necessity of addressing the decline in bilateral trade and exploring new options to expand economic ties.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen trade and economic linkages, foster business-to-business contacts, and explore new opportunities for cooperation in agriculture and food-related sectors. Both sides recognized the importance of regional connectivity and expanded trade to reinforce the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
