DUSHANBE: Pakistan and Tajikistan have agreed to enhance their bilateral trade to $200 million through a newly established roadmap, as announced at the 8th Session of the Joint Commission on Trade, Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation held in Dushanbe. The meeting was co-chaired by Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Energy, and Jum’a Daler Shofaqir, Tajikistan’s Minister of Energy and Water Resources.

According to Press Information Department, the session included participation from several Pakistani ministries, including Economic Affairs, Commerce, and National Health Services, alongside relevant Tajik state departments. The discussions covered cooperation in sectors such as energy, trade, agriculture, education, and technology, with both sides agreeing to organize trade delegations and business interactions to reach the trade target.

The meeting also saw the finalization of a Memorandum of Understanding between Tajikistan’s Agency for Export and Pakistan’s Trade Development Authority. Both nations highlighted the progress of the CASA-1000 Project and planned further discussions during a Joint Working Group meeting in Istanbul. Additionally, cooperation in agriculture and education was emphasized, with both sides committing to continued dialogue and collaboration in these areas.
