Pakistan and Sri Lanka to Enhance Collaborative Efforts Against Narcotics and Crime


New York: Pakistan and Sri Lanka have reached a mutual understanding to enhance coordination in combating narcotics and improve cooperation in police training. The agreement emerged from a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Sri Lankan Interior Minister Ananda Wijepala at the United Nations Headquarters.



According to Radio Pakistan, the two countries have decided to increase collaboration efforts aimed at curbing illegal immigration and preventing the use of forged passports. The discussions also covered a potential Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on tackling criminal networks and money laundering activities.



A key outcome of the meeting was the decision to establish a Joint Working Group to bolster cooperation between the interior ministries of both nations. The ministers also concurred on prioritizing the resolution of visa-related issues to facilitate smoother bilateral engagements.
