Pakistan’s M Arif Balgamwala Wins Gold Medal at Macao Stamp Exhibition


Karachi: Pakistan’s M Arif Balgamwala has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first philatelist in the world to win a Gold Medal at the Macao Specialized World Stamp Exhibition. His exhibit, titled ‘British India Stamps Overprints Pakistan 1947-1949,’ earned him this prestigious accolade.



According to Radio Pakistan, Balgamwala’s achievement has brought a landmark distinction for Pakistan, providing the country with unprecedented international recognition in the field of philately. His exhibit showcased a collection of stamps that highlight a crucial period in Pakistan’s history, capturing the transition of British India stamps to those overprinted for use in Pakistan following its independence in 1947.



The success at the Macao exhibition marks a significant moment for stamp collectors and philatelists in Pakistan, as Balgamwala’s accomplishment is recognized on a global stage, setting a new standard for excellence in this specialized field.
