Islamabad: Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and South Africa’s National Assembly Speaker, Ms. Angela Thokozile Didiza, have agreed to strengthen parliamentary and bilateral ties during a meeting at the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Cape Town. Both leaders emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in legislation and parliamentary processes.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq outlined the need for stronger ties and greater parliamentary cooperation, citing past visits of Nelson Mandela to Pakistan. He discussed Pakistan’s vulnerability to climate change, regional peace, and the Kashmir issue, advocating for peaceful resolutions and stability in the Gulf region.

The meeting highlighted Pakistan’s initiatives like the Green Parliament and invited Ms. Didiza to visit Pakistan. In response, the South African delegation expressed interest in expanding cooperation and modernizing parliamentary processes. Speaker Didiza proposed signing a Memorandum of Understanding and invited Sadiq to South Africa, with both sides committing to deepening bilateral relations.
