Pakistan and Russia Hold Strategic Stability Talks in Moscow

Moscow, In a significant development in international diplomacy, the 14th round of the Pakistan-Russia Consultative Group on Strategic Stability convened in Moscow on Wednesday. The meeting, led by Additional Foreign Secretary Mohammad Kamran Akhtar from Pakistan and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs S.A. Ryabkov from Russia, facilitated a comprehensive dialogue on pivotal issues concerning global and regional security, arms control, and non-proliferation.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussions during this round covered a wide array of subjects, including challenges to international security, regional stability, and various aspects of arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation. Both sides delved into topics relevant to the First Committee of the UN General Assembly, the Conference on Disarmament, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). Other critical issues such as biological security, space and international information security, as well as the implications of new and emerging technologies like the military use of artificial intelligence, were also extensively discussed.

The talks concluded with both delegations expressing satisfaction over the convergence of their views on several matters of global strategic stability and regional security, including arms control and disarmament. The meeting underscored the shared commitment of Pakistan and Russia to continue their close coordination at various international forums and highlighted the importance of maintaining regular interactions through the Consultative Group.

Furthermore, it was mutually agreed that the 15th meeting of the Consultative Group would be held next year in Islamabad, signifying the ongoing commitment to strengthening dialogue and cooperation between the two countries on critical issues affecting global peace and security.

The consultative group’s meetings have become a key platform for Pakistan and Russia to discuss strategic stability issues, reflecting the evolving dynamics of their bilateral relationship and their roles in the broader international security architecture.
