New York: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, at the United Nations Headquarters to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional security concerns. The meeting focused on cooperation in counter-narcotics, counter-terrorism, cybercrime, and joint police exercises.
According to Radio Pakistan, both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to enhance collaboration between the two nations and deliberated on the prevailing regional situation. They emphasized the importance of developing a joint strategy to combat terrorist networks, particularly those operating in Afghanistan. The ministers agreed to formalize their cooperative efforts by signing a Memorandum of Understanding.
During the meeting, Naqvi extended an invitation to Kolokoltsev to visit Pakistan. The session also included a review of the progress made on decisions from their previous meeting. Naqvi highlighted the presence of over twenty-five terrorist organizations in Afghanistan, underscoring the shared responsibility in combating these groups and the necessity for collective action to address terrorism.
