Cholpon-Ata: Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan have committed to establishing a strategic partnership, focusing on enhancing trade, economic, and investment cooperation. The agreement was reached during a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov in Cholpon-Ata.

According to Radio Pakistan, the joint statement issued after the talks highlighted the countries’ readiness to support direct business contacts, including involvement from chambers of commerce, investment agencies, and financial institutions. Both leaders noted the potential for expanding cooperation in the energy sector, particularly through the CASA-1000 Project, and emphasized the importance of improving transport connectivity between Central and South Asia.

The discussions underscored the strategic value of Pakistan’s seaports and the development of international transport corridors. The leaders agreed to take measures to increase cargo transportation volumes and ensure sustainable logistics routes. They also expressed mutual interest in enhancing cooperation in education, science, culture, and public health.

Condemning regional terrorism, the presidents stressed the importance of peace and stability for progress. The Kyrgyz Republic praised Pakistan’s mediation efforts in the Middle East, particularly the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which aims to lay the foundation for lasting peace.

President Zardari emphasized the deep cultural and historical ties between the nations and advocated for increased air connectivity. His visit, accompanied by a high-level delegation, reflects the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan. An official welcoming ceremony and a reception hosted by the Kyrgyz President further marked the occasion, along with the signing of a health cooperation Memorandum of Understanding.
