Islamabad: The Pakistan-Ethiopia Parliamentary Friendship Group held a significant meeting with Dr. Jemal Beker, the Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan, at the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad. The meeting, chaired by Mr. Arshad Abdullah Vohra, MNA and Convener of the group, aimed to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two nations. Attendees included MNAs Dr. Mehreen Razzaq Bhutto and Shaista Khan.

Ambassador Beker acknowledged Pakistan’s “Look Africa and Engage Africa” policy, applauding its efforts to bolster ties with African nations. He assured Ethiopia’s ongoing support for Pakistan on international fronts, citing Pakistan’s contributions to counter-terrorism and regional peace.

An invitation was extended to the Parliamentary Friendship Group to visit Ethiopia, particularly for the upcoming Single Country Exhibition in Addis Ababa.

Mr. Vohra emphasized the friendly relations between Pakistan and Ethiopia, advocating for stronger ties in trade and economic development. He highlighted his previous visit to Ethiopia as instrumental in advancing mutual understanding.

Dr. Bhutto stressed the importance of deepening diplomatic and economic relations, focusing on shared interests in trade, investment, and sectors like agriculture and food security. She noted that exchanges between parliamentarians could build trust and enhance cooperation.

MNA Shaista Khan supported increased interactions, including parliamentary visits and engagements with business communities. She highlighted the need for sustained dialogue to strengthen relations across various domains.

Both parties agreed on regular engagements and exploring avenues for expanding bilateral cooperation.
