Pakistan and Djibouti Forge Closer Ties with New Political Agreement

DJIBOUTI: Pakistan and Djibouti have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Bilateral Political Consultations, marking a significant development in their diplomatic relations. Representatives from both nations convened in Djibouti to formalize the agreement, which aims to deepen cooperation across various sectors, including trade and investment.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the MoU was signed by Additional Foreign Secretary (Africa Division) Hamid Asghar Khan for Pakistan and Foreign Secretary Mahmoud Ali Hassan for Djibouti. This agreement is seen as a strategic step to enhance bilateral ties and foster broader collaboration between the two countries.

Following the signing, officials from both sides participated in the inaugural session of the Bilateral Political Consultations. During these discussions, they expressed satisfaction with the current level of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, while also committing to further strengthening their partnership.

The consultations covered a range of topics, including political, economic, and security matters. Both parties shared their perspectives on regional and international issues of mutual interest, with a particular focus on the situation in the Middle East and the Horn of Africa.
