Islamabad: Pakistan’s private sector credit experienced a significant expansion of 1.46 trillion rupees during the Financial Year 2026, marking the most substantial annual increase in four years. Adviser to the Finance Minister, Khurram Schehzad, announced this development, highlighting the growth of private sector credit to 11.38 trillion rupees.
According to Radio Pakistan, Khurram Schehzad shared this information through a post on his social media account. He noted that business credit alone surged by 1.18 trillion rupees, representing a fourteen percent increase and more than eighty percent of the total rise in private sector credit. This trend indicates an uptick in financing for productive economic activities.
The Adviser further explained that nearly eighty-nine percent of the private-sector business credit increase was concentrated in three key sectors: manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, and agriculture. Schehzad attributed the broad-based rise in financing across these productive sectors to increased business confidence, rising private investment, and the positive effects of macroeconomic stability, improved financial conditions, and ongoing structural reforms.
