Islamabad: Pakistan and China have agreed to further enhance their multifaceted relations and strategic dialogue, according to a joint statement issued during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to China. The visit, commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, included high-level meetings aimed at deepening political trust and cooperation.

According to Radio Pakistan, the four-day official visit by Prime Minister Sharif was at the invitation of China’s Premier Li Qiang. During the visit, Sharif held talks with both President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. The discussions resulted in a broad consensus on strengthening the China-Pakistan All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and addressing international and regional issues of mutual interest.

The joint statement highlighted the importance of maintaining high-level exchanges and progressing under the Action Plan for fostering a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future. Both countries aim to enhance cooperation in defense, security, trade, technology, and other sectors to benefit their peoples and promote regional stability.

The leaders also emphasized the significance of the Belt and Road Initiative, particularly the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and agreed to further its development. Additionally, both sides committed to advancing industrial cooperation, agricultural collaboration, and personnel training, among other initiatives.

The visit underscored Pakistan’s support for China’s stance on various international matters, including the one-China principle and issues concerning Xinjiang, Xizang, Hong Kong, and the South China Sea. In return, China reiterated its support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and security efforts.

Both nations expressed their intent to promote peace and stability in South Asia and beyond, with particular attention to the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and broader Middle East issues. The visit concluded with the signing of multiple cooperation documents, marking a significant step in the ongoing partnership between the two countries.
