Beijing, In a significant step towards enhancing economic cooperation, Pakistan and China have pledged to strengthen bilateral trade and investment, focusing on the revision of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, The commitment was articulated during a meeting in Beijing between Pakistan’s Minister for Commerce and Industry, Dr. Gohar Ejaz, and the Chinese Vice Minister Li Fei, as reported by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. This meeting underscored the two nations’ dedication to deepening their economic ties.
The ministers also discussed the progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has now advanced into its second phase. The CPEC, a cornerstone of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, is a key element in the bilateral relations between the two countries, fostering infrastructure development and economic growth.
Further emphasizing Pakistan’s focus on attracting foreign investment, Dr. Gohar Ejaz highlighted the government’s policies aimed at facilitating foreign direct investment. He specifically mentioned the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council, which is instrumental in creating an investor-friendly environment in Pakistan.
