Islamabad: Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan recently engaged in a comprehensive meeting with Chinese Minister Counsellor Yang Guangyuan to discuss expanding bilateral trade and industrial cooperation under the strategic economic partnership between Pakistan and China. The dialogue focused on agriculture modernization, strategic connectivity, and emerging investment opportunities.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting underscored the longstanding friendship and strategic collaboration between the two nations. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing economic cooperation across various sectors. Federal Minister Khan highlighted the global trade challenges, emphasizing the significance of resilient regional trade corridors amid geopolitical shifts and supply chain disruptions.
The discussions placed special emphasis on Pakistan-China industrial cooperation, particularly in electric vehicles, renewable energy, and advanced industrial technologies. Jam Kamal Khan pointed to the potential for deeper collaboration in EV manufacturing and component technology, given Pakistan’s strategic location as a trade gateway connecting China, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
Agricultural cooperation was also a focal point, with Minister Khan stressing the need for modernization in response to global food security concerns. He highlighted Balochistan’s potential for drought-resistant crops such as olives and almonds and advocated for climate-resilient agricultural practices.
The meeting further explored community development initiatives, including renewable energy applications and rural welfare projects, emphasizing sustainable social development. Discussions also covered logistics infrastructure, focusing on Gwadar’s potential as a regional trade hub.
Both sides acknowledged new opportunities for cooperation in clean energy, manufacturing, and regional logistics, reaffirming their commitment to a strategic economic partnership. Minister Khan reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to strengthening ties with China through forward-looking economic engagement.
