Islamabad: Pakistan and China have reached an agreement to bolster their cooperation in the livestock and meat export sectors, aiming to promote trade and strengthen Pakistan’s livestock industry. This decision was made during a high-level meeting attended by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain and a visiting Chinese delegation.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting highlighted Pakistan’s vast livestock resources and potential to produce high-quality halal meat. The discussions centered on joint efforts to increase meat exports and support the development of Pakistan’s livestock sector. Both parties agreed to promote the establishment of modern slaughterhouses, meat processing facilities, and export infrastructure within Pakistan.

Pakistan is set to enhance its use of modern technology, cold chain systems, and traceability mechanisms to improve the quality of halal meat exports to China. The Chinese delegation, in turn, expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s livestock potential and showed interest in collaborating on meat processing, technology transfer, and export infrastructure development. The livestock sector is recognized for its significant contribution to the agricultural economy, value addition, rural employment, and overall national production.
