Islamabad: Pakistan and Canada have agreed to expedite the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, as discussed during a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the talks focused on enhancing Pakistan-Canada relations, with specific attention to trade, security cooperation, and increased bilateral engagement. Both sides expressed a commitment to tackle issues such as illegal immigration, human trafficking, and cybercrime, while reviewing proposals for training and exchange programs for law enforcement officers. The meeting also covered regional developments of mutual concern.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi highlighted Pakistan’s intent to enhance relations with Canada across all sectors, noting the significant contributions of the Pakistani community in Canada to the prosperity of both nations. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry remarked that the proposed agreement would further solidify bilateral ties. Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand reiterated her country’s commitment to its relationship with Pakistan and stressed the importance of developing a framework to expand cooperation between the two countries.
