Karachi: Construction of the Pipri Multi-Logistics Park is being expedited as part of the Prime Minister’s Maritime Reforms Task Force, aiming to enhance cargo movement, port connectivity, and the overall logistics network in the region.

According to Radio Pakistan, the project, valued at 2.46 billion rupees, is currently underway through a collaboration between the National Logistics Corporation (NLC) and DP World. Project Director National Logistics Corporation Sindh Engineer Altaf Qadir Bajwa stated that a 1.5-kilometer railway link is being developed to connect Port Qasim and Karachi Port, facilitating improved freight movement.

The development at Pipri includes a railway freight container terminal and a multi-logistics park, featuring the construction of warehouses, container storage facilities, vehicle parking areas, and administrative blocks. A 37,700 square meter hardstanding area is being prepared to accommodate up to two hundred and sixty containers and trucks at the same time.

The logistics park will serve as a hub where trailers arriving from upcountry will be transferred, with cargo subsequently transported to the ports by rail. The project is expected to alleviate congestion by reducing the influx of two hundred and fifty to five hundred trailers entering Karachi.
