NEW YORK: Pakistan and Bangladesh have pledged to enhance their bilateral cooperation across several sectors, including trade, investment, and education. The commitment was made during a meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan and his Bangladeshi counterpart, Tarique Rahman, on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to Radio Pakistan, the two leaders expressed satisfaction with the current trajectory of Pakistan-Bangladesh relations and discussed ways to bolster ties further. They emphasized the importance of continued collaboration on regional and global issues, particularly within multilateral fora like the United Nations.

Prime Minister Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to deepening mutually beneficial relations with Bangladesh and congratulated the country on its recent assumption of the Presidency of the UN General Assembly. He assured Pakistan’s support for Bangladesh’s efforts to promote the objectives of the United Nations.

Prime Minister Rahman reciprocated by noting his government’s eagerness to enhance relations with Pakistan. Following the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif took to social media to reiterate the agreements reached, which include boosting cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges.

The meeting underscores the positive momentum in Pakistan-Bangladesh relations and highlights their shared commitment to working together on both regional and global platforms.
