Islamabad: The Ministry of Industries and Production in Pakistan launched an International Workshop on Salt Mining, with a focus on innovation and sustainability within the industry. Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, addressed the opening session, emphasizing the need for modernizing the sector to enhance global demand for Pakistan’s pink salt.
Mr. Khan highlighted the role of the National Productivity Organization in advancing industrial development. He outlined plans for model factories to improve productivity and value addition, with the goal of increasing exports and creating jobs.
The workshop brings together international experts to discuss mine safety, productivity, and business opportunities. It will run through April 16, 2025, aiming to explore the salt industry’s potential and foster economic growth through increased exports.
