Islamabad: Over 5.8 million individuals have registered for the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme, according to Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication. She made this announcement during a joint news conference with Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani.

According to Radio Pakistan, the minister revealed that approximately 6.1 million tokens have been issued, and 4.7 million people have already availed themselves of fuel through the facility. Recent changes to the scheme include the removal of the five-litre limit for motorcycles, rickshaws, and Qingqi, as well as the elimination of ownership requirements for those using rented vehicles. Motorcycle and rickshaw users can now receive a 500-rupee token weekly without a volume limit, while eligible vehicles up to 800cc can benefit from a 100-rupee per litre discount for 10 litres per token.

The scheme has reportedly benefited around 4.7 million people in just over a week, covering all four provinces, Islamabad, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Bilal Azhar Kayani emphasized that the identification process for eligible recipients is being conducted transparently.
