Over 15,000 Personnel Deployed for Muharram Security in Islamabad: IGP Announces Measures

Islamabad: Over 15,000 personnel have been deployed to ensure security during Muharram in Islamabad, as confirmed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. The IGP visited Imambargah Asna Ashri, where he reviewed security arrangements and inspected the main procession route with senior officers.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, 177 processions and 929 Majalis will occur across the district during Muharram-ul-Haram. To safeguard these events, 10 field vigilance teams supervised by senior officers will monitor and inspect security arrangements. Special checking points and dedicated patrolling units are being established throughout the district. Ongoing search operations further reinforce the security plan.

The IGP emphasized that all officers will remain active in the field during Muharram-ul-Haram. Processions and Majalis are being monitored from a control room at Safe City Islamabad. Enhanced surveillance measures include the use of Safe City cameras, drones, and smart patrol vehicles. Coordination among all relevant departments aims to ensure an effective response to emergencies.
