NSCN-IM Deputy Leader Assassinated in Nagaland


Kohima, In a violent escalation within the troubled Nagaland state of India, Khampei Konyak, the deputy leader of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM), was assassinated by unidentified gunmen at his home in the Mon district. The incident marks a significant moment in the ongoing conflict in the region, highlighting the precarious security situation.



According to Kashmir Media Service, the attack occurred when a group of six assailants forcibly entered Konyak’s residence in Namsa and shot him, subsequently fleeing the area. Despite immediate efforts to save his life, Konyak was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital, succumbing to the injuries sustained during the attack.



The killing of the NSCN-IM deputy leader has sparked concerns over the potential for further violence in Nagaland, a state already beleaguered by decades of insurgency and political unrest.
