No Taxation Plans for Solar Net Metering, Affirms Power Minister Leghari

Islamabad, Minister for Power Awais Leghari has confirmed that the government has no intentions to impose taxation on solar net metering, addressing concerns regarding potential policy changes affecting solar energy users.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Leghari, in a discussion with a private news channel, emphasized that current regulations for net metering will remain in place, ensuring that consumers who have already installed solar systems will not face new taxes. Net metering allows consumers to contribute excess solar energy back to the grid in return for credits on their electric bills, a system that Leghari advocates as beneficial for reducing the overall load on the national power system.

He encouraged the adoption of solar power by the public as a means to alleviate strain on Pakistan’s power generation systems and to promote sustainable energy practices.
