New jobs for 22,500 youth but no salary for 30 employees of JK Cements for 28 months

Jammu, June 19, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha on Thursday announced that 22,500 youth from 4290 panchayats will be engaged in youth clubs and Rs 12 crore will be spent on the initiative, however, the administration needs to be reminded that nearly 30 people, who were working with JK Cements Limited for the past many years, have been without salary for the past 28 months.

These employees of JK Cements said, they have not received a single penny as salary since April 2019 and their office has remained closed for the past four months. “We don’t know whether we are on rolls or not,” they deplored. A young widow of one such employees had staged silent protest, sought pending wages of her late husband and also demanded adjustment of these employees. These contractual employees said that they have met Lt Governor’s Advisor and Principal Secretary. “Except assurances we have got nothing. We are caught in a dilemma as our fate hangs in balance,” they added.

Trade Union leader, Tanveer Hussain said, “Every day we hear that the J and K Government is creating new job opportunities for youth but the ground situation contradicts these claims. Even the ones who were earning their livelihoods have been rendered jobless. What jobs they will provide, they haven’t paid a single penny to these 30-employees for the past 28 months.”
