NA Unanimously Approves Resolution in Support of IIOJK on Black Day Observance

Islamabad: The National Assembly of Pakistan passed a resolution unanimously expressing solidarity with the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on the upcoming Black Day, set for October 27. The resolution underscores Pakistan’s commitment to support the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination and criticizes India’s demographic changes and political repression in the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, Engineer Amir Maqam, presented the resolution, which received unanimous support in the House. The resolution commemorates the 77th anniversary of Indian forces’ entry into Srinagar, vowing to extend full political, diplomatic, and moral support to the Kashmiri people in their ongoing struggle for self-determination.

The resolution highlights that the sustainable peace and stability of South Asia hinge on the resolution of the Kashmir issue, in alignment with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. It denounces India’s attempts to alter the demographic makeup of the territory and condemns the prolonged detention of Kashmiri political activists and the banning of their political parties.

Earlier statements by Engineer Maqam emphasized the visibility of the Kashmiri struggle on the global stage, noting the historical sacrifices made by the Kashmiris for their rights. He criticized the actions taken by India since the revocation of Kashmir’s special status in August 2019, which include the resettlement of non-Kashmiri Hindus to alter the demographic balance. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s ongoing support for the Kashmiri cause and mentioned the Prime Minister’s efforts to highlight the issues of Kashmiris and Palestinians at the United Nations General Assembly.
