Muzaffargarh Police Arrest Suspect in Year-Old Rape and Murder Case

Muzaffargarh, The Muzaffargarh Police have successfully apprehended a suspect linked to the rape and murder of a 16-year-old girl that occurred on October 6, 2022, in the Shah Jamal area. This arrest marks a significant breakthrough in a case that has remained unresolved for over a year.

According to Punjab Police, the body of the girl was discovered in a sugarcane field last year, prompting a thorough investigation. District Police Officer Syed Hasnain Haider assigned the case to Shah Jamal Station House Officer Zareef Khan. The investigative team, comprising members from the Forensic Science Agency, crime scene unit, and IT section, conducted an extensive investigation, which included examining the DNA of nine men.

The breakthrough came when the DNA of suspect ‘A’ matched the sample obtained from the victim. Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to having an alleged affair with the girl and claimed to have killed her upon discovering she was expectant. Further, the police were able to recover the gold earrings belonging to the victim and the murder weapon from the suspect.

The police confirmed that a case had already been registered in this matter. This arrest is a significant step in providing justice to the victim and her family, highlighting the persistence and dedication of the Muzaffargarh Police in solving complex and sensitive cases.
