Muzaffarabad Hosts Rallies and Conference to Honor Kashmiri Martyrs Afzal Guru and Maqbool Butt

Muzaffarabad, In a profound display of reverence and remembrance, rallies and a conference were held today in Muzaffarabad, organized by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJK-chapter, Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, and Tehreek-e-Shabab-ul-Muslimeen. These events were dedicated to paying tribute to the legendary Kashmiri liberation leaders Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt on their martyrdom anniversaries.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the commemorative activities saw a significant turnout, with participants converging at Shaheed Afzal Guru Chowk and proceeding along the Srinagar highway. The air was charged with slogans decrying India’s occupation and championing the cause of freedom for Kashmir.

Speakers at the rally highlighted the indomitable spirit of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Butt, asserting that such sacrifices are the cornerstone of the Kashmiri freedom struggle. They criticized India’s attempts to quell the liberation movement through executions, detentions, and the imposition of draconian laws, maintaining that such measures cannot dampen the resolve of the Kashmiri people to fight for their rights.

The rally also served as a platform to honor other martyrs of the Kashmiri struggle, including Syed Ali Gilani, Molvi Mohammad Farooq, Burhan Muzaffar Wani, and many others who have laid down their lives in pursuit of freedom and self-determination.

Prominent figures such as Pasban-e-Hurriyat Chairman Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, and Usman Ali Hashim were among the participants, underscoring the widespread support for the cause within the Kashmiri leadership and community.

The Kashmir Martyrs Conference, held concurrently, brought together a diverse group of speakers who reiterated the sacrifices of Guru and Butt, condemning their execution by India and the denial of their rights even in death, as their bodies were buried within the confines of New Delhi’s Tihar Jail.

These events in Muzaffarabad not only commemorate the lives and legacies of two of Kashmir’s most revered figures but also reinforce the continued determination among Kashmiris to seek justice and liberation from Indian rule.
