Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima Stresses Digital Transformation for National Development


Islamabad: Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, emphasized the crucial role of digital transformation in Pakistan’s development during the launch of the “Country Digital Ecosystem Diagnostic Report” on Monday. The report, a collaborative effort between the Sustainable Development Policy Institute and the Asian Development Bank, marks a significant step towards realizing the Digital Pakistan Vision.



According to Press Information Department, Minister Khawaja highlighted the ongoing efforts to digitalize the economy, governance, and societal functions within the country. She noted that the Digital Pakistan Policy is instrumental in advancing these transformations to new heights. The minister particularly stressed the importance of digital inclusion, pointing out the government’s commitment to bridging the digital divide between rural and urban areas.



The event served as a platform to discuss initiatives aimed at fostering digital innovation and developing infrastructure across the nation. Minister Khawaja also pointed out the significant contributions of the IT sector to the economic uplift of the country, citing a surge in IT exports to $3.223 billion. She underscored the support extended to the IT industry through the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), which is integral to the national strategy under the guidance of the Prime Minister.



The “Country Digital Ecosystem Diagnostic Report” is seen as a key milestone in evaluating and enhancing Pakistan’s digital landscape, crucial for the country’s continued progress in the digital age.
