Minister Ahsan Iqbal Touts Gwadar Airport and CPEC-II as Catalysts for Pakistan’s Prosperity

Islamabad: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has highlighted the significant potential of the Gwadar International Airport and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor’s second phase (CPEC-II) in fostering new avenues of prosperity for Pakistan. During discussions with a private television channel, he emphasized the strategic initiatives and regional connectivity enhancements these projects are expected to bring.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Iqbal detailed plans to inaugurate CPEC-II with substantial support from China, noting that this phase would include the establishment of five economic corridors. He also outlined potential developments in Gwadar, such as the creation of a cargo hub aimed at boosting business activities for the people of Balochistan.

The minister also commented on the role of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in enhancing regional connectivity, stating that improved rail and road links could strengthen business relations with Central Asian states and Europe. In response to inquiries about regional trade, he noted that revitalizing routes between Gwadar and Oman could significantly enhance economic activity in the region.
