Minister Ahad Cheema Praises FCDO’s Aid Contribution During 2022 Pakistan Floods


Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema has praised the significant aid provided by the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) during the 2022 floods in Pakistan. The acknowledgment came during a meeting with Jo Moir, Development Director of the British High Commission, who visited the minister in Islamabad. According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussions focused on the International Partners’ Support Group’s aid, and the Minister expressed gratitude for the FCDO’s support. The government of Pakistan, he reiterated, remains committed to continuing its cooperation with the FCDO for the country’s socio-economic development. The talks also covered strategies for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of Pakistan’s bureaucracy, including potential training programs for capacity building. Furthermore, Minister Cheema highlighted the need for increased financial support, particularly in climate finance and disaster mitigation. Ms. Moir, for her part, thanked the Minister
for his strong partnership and agreed to enhance cooperation, especially in addressing climate change and supporting social sector initiatives through innovative green financing instruments.
