Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti has stressed that reconciliation between India and Pakistan is crucial to ending the cycle of violence in Jammu and Kashmir, where residents continue to suffer due to the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mufti, during a visit to the Naidgam area of Gandarbal, expressed concern over the impact of the hostility between India and Pakistan on the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “The people of J and K are stuck in the animosity between the two countries. Their lives and their property are getting destroyed because the two countries are fighting each other,” she said, adding that non-local laborers are also adversely affected by the conflict.
Mufti urged for diplomatic dialogue between the neighboring countries. “Until both countries sit together, talk cordially, and take the path of reconciliation, India will continue to witness such incidents,” she remarked.
When asked to comment on recent remarks by National Conference President Farooq Abdullah, Mufti declined to address the specifics, saying, “Every person in J and K, not just Mehbooba Mufti, wants this violence to end and that the two countries sit together and talk so that we can get out of this bloodshed.”
