Mayor of Karachi Highlights Women’s Role in Nation Building

Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has emphasized the significant role women play in Pakistan’s development. Speaking on International Women’s Day, he highlighted their contributions in various capacities, from their involvement in the Pakistan Movement to their current participation in legislative processes within the Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC).

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab noted the historical contributions of figures like Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Begum Rana Liaquat Ali Khan, and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto as examples of determination and courage. He underscored the importance of educating and empowering women to ensure the education and training of future generations.

The mayor reiterated that women are central to building families and society, participating actively in various roles alongside men. He pointed out that the Pakistan People’s Party has consistently prioritized women’s rights, with initiatives such as the Benazir Income Support Program aimed at women’s economic empowerment.

International Women’s Day, as per Mayor Wahab, is an opportunity to integrate women more fully into society and ensure they have the freedom to contribute to the nation’s development. He expressed optimism that women will continue to train the next generation, leading Pakistan toward progress.
