Srinagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party-led Indian regime has attached properties of two more Kashmiris in the Sopore district of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. This recent action marks a continuation of the government’s ongoing campaign to seize assets in the region, which has been a point of contention since the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status in 2019.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the properties involve four kanals and nine marlas of orchard land belonging to Irshad Ahmad Reshi, valued at Rs 21,13,750, and two kanals and five marlas of orchard land owned by Bashir Ahmad Mir, valued at Rs 17,77,500. Both properties are located in the Sopore district, with Reshi residing in Yamberzalwari and Mir in Harwan Bomai.

The Indian government has confiscated hundreds of properties in the region, citing a range of reasons. This campaign is perceived by many as an effort to economically destabilize the local population and potentially alter the demographic composition of the region by encouraging the settlement of non-Kashmiris.

These actions continue to stir significant controversy and debate, both locally and internationally, regarding the Indian government’s policies in Kashmir.
