Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has formally inaugurated a new postnatal ward at Sobhraj Maternity Hospital, featuring modern medical equipment and facilities aimed at enhancing maternal and newborn care. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several municipal and health officials, highlighting the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s commitment to improving healthcare services in the city.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab toured the hospital’s various departments post-inauguration, examining the medical facilities and interacting with patients. He expressed satisfaction with the hospital’s arrangements and reiterated the KMC’s focus on providing quality healthcare, particularly for women and newborns. The newly established ward is expected to ease patient loads and improve healthcare services, reflecting the KMC’s broader efforts to upgrade hospital infrastructure and the public health system in Karachi.
The Mayor also highlighted ongoing development projects, including sewerage improvements and road construction in the hospital’s vicinity, aimed at enhancing the city’s infrastructure. He noted the affordability of services at Sobhraj Maternity Hospital, contrasting it with private hospital costs, and emphasized the allocation of ventilators for critical care of newborns. Furthermore, he outlined significant investments in city-wide development projects, showcasing a commitment to urban improvement and addressing Karachi’s unique challenges compared to other major cities.
